Yellow

Welcome to the Yellow Book. The Orange Book taught the rule that when two vowels are together the first one says its “name” and the second one is silent. The vowels in this book including “y” and “w” do not follow the rule taught in the Orange Book. Vowels in the Yellow Book, though they are together, make a separate and different sound, as you will see. There are a few vowel pairs that are taught in the Orange Book that are also in the Yellow Book but they make a different sound. When reading outside of this program, you will have to try each one in the word and see which sound works or simply memorize the words in this book. It’s that simple.
